Winter elm -
a dove on top sits
on white cloud
Anchored barge
its sunday cargo
a flock of gulls
Old resolutions
pass midnight inspection -
still fit for service
Checking the trap -
a mouse may be waiting
for my New Year's deed
The garden shed
with each spadeful snow
seems further off
New Year's morning
the smoke of neighbour's chimney
no early bird
First facial -
smoothing away the creases
of the old year
